Bruce
"Cruise"
Years riding motorcycles: Off
and on since I was about 10. Gee,,lemme see,,, I guess that will make 40 yrs. Off and on, realistically in those years I
will give it a good 18 yrs. Of riding.
First bike was: I started out on a neat lil blue mini-bike. Before that, I
got to ride on the back of my brother's Harley and my cousin's.
Chapter member since: 2001
Officer positions held in GNW Chapter: Just your friendly Road Captain. I
am sure eventually I will take on a position, so far I am the only RC who has
not held a position,,does that make me special?
Road Captain since: 2002
Rider Courses taken/plan to take: When I moved to Wa., I took the
beginners course because I didn't have my scoot I sold in Oregon and it allowed me
to get my endorsement for Wa. State. A couple years ago I took the ERC. Not a
bad idea to take em every few years.
HOG Rallies attended: Ya got me there, I think I will hit Tumbleweed this year and the State Rally.
Longest bike trip taken/plan to take: Went to Sturgis with my ol' buddy Hoghead in '02. Took a day to do an iron butt back to Montana last year. I
did a little over a thousand miles in 20hrs. and 30mins.
Accomplishments outside of GNW: Huh? Lemme see,, somehow have talked Hallie
Sue into keeping me for 30 yrs.. We have raised three kids and now have 6
grandbabies ranging from 11 yrs. To 1 ?.
Hobbies: Besides riding my scoot? Woodworking, haven't had a car in the
two stall garage for the last 18 yrs. Shooting the bow is a good time. Would
love to have an arsenal again to go do some shooting (guns that is).
Hmmm,,I even like golf although it doesn't always like me.
Best thing about being a Road Captain: U-turns!! I love U-turns,,lol.
Also, being with the great group of folks we have in our club. I really like to
eat too, so,,,,riding somewhere whether leading or following in a ride, we
always find good places to eat.
Copilot: Hallie
Years riding as a Copilot: 2
First bike ride was: At 16 yrs. Old.
Chapter member since: 2001
Officer positions held in GNW Chapter: None yet.
Rider Courses taken/plan to take with rider: None yet
HOG Rallies attended: None yet.
Longest bike trip taken/plan to take: Some of the lengthy ones we have had
in our H.O.G. group rides.
Accomplishments outside of GNW: Hallie has many. Her ability to put up
with "Cruise" for 30 years is probably the most challenging.
Hobbies: Raising Portuguese Water Dogs. Our two Porties are both champions
in conformation. The male even has some initials behind his name for water
trials. She is active in the NWPWDC which is the club dedicated to Porties.
As of this writing, she is waiting on our female to deliver in about three
weeks, then the "fun" begins.. She is also an accomplished
quilter and very handy with the sewing machine. One of her prime hobbies is
"reading", practically anything she can get her hands on. Good thing cuz
"Cruise" can only look at the pictures,,hehe.
Started out riding that mini-bike at a young age, what a hoot. As a teen,
I rode a 305 scrambler, what a fun lil scoot that was. When that was in non-running condition, I could always rely on a good friend who owned an
old Indian that he would let me ride and too would join others on some wild
times back in Wisconsin riding dirt bikes through all the deer trails and gravel pits.Had a 650 Yamaha in Ore. And vowed that my next scoot would be
a Harley. So, in 2001 I finally got my Road King. I should have done it a
LONG time ago. Cruise..> |
