P&P are Prince and Princess rides sponsored by LOH.  These are skills workshop type rides, usually in a parking lot where we won't run into cars and drivers who don't understand. P&P is for all riders. Skills include emergency stops, s- l- o- w ride (no feet down) circles (turns) or any skill you feel needs to be improved on. As weather improves we may change when and where we go.

This calendar page is currently being updated..
Confirm ride dates and times for any event displayed here until update is complete.

January 2005

Jan 1 - Sat - Charity Ride with Seattle Chapter
I hope you all are tunin' up your bikes for this year's Chili Buns Run to the Olde Shipwreck Restaurant & Lounge, 1941 Marine View Drive, in Tacoma. We will leave the Cycle Barn at 10:00 am on January 1st, for the staging at the Alki Tavern in West Seattle at 11:00 am. The price is $10.00, with ride pins for the first 100 people to the Alki (but don't hold yer breath, says I, unless you get there at 9 am)...but, there will still be chili dogs & coffee. If you made the run two years ago, it can't get any worse than that...Right, Cruise?, asks me. Gettin' naked and eatin' chili never tasted so good!!! I'll never forget that two-lane x 40 ft. puddle...I was spawning salmon in my boots by the time I was through it...Thanks Russ! There's a 50/50 and music planned. Drive, ride or fly, said the flyer. See you all in the regular place (the Cycle Barn parking area, for those of you who need it spelled out). -- Patt

Jan 1 - Thu - Resolution Ride IV
There will be, for the 5th year running, an all makes and all bikes welcome ride on January 1st called the Resolution Ride V.
We meet at the Buzz Inn up the street at about 10am or so for breakfast and
a white elephant gift exchange, and then those present decide on a ride destination based on who is there, what the weather is doing, etc.
In past years we have gone to Granite Falls, Snoqualmie Falls, etc.  Last year we headed for the eastside and then aborted the run due to a rare outbreak of common sense when I decided that a ridge of snow and ice down the middle of the lane was a bad omen - we adjourned to a Starbuck's in Woodinville and Cycle Barn bought everyone lattes!  Bring a "white elephant" or real gift, (inexpensive)or none.  We will have a gift exchange for those who chose to bring a gift

Details of this year's Resolution Ride will be forthcoming, as soon as I invent them, but it will  be similar to the above

Yes indeed, it is once again.  Time for Cruise and Hoghead to lead you down the frosty backroads of the local neighborhoods and show off our prized possessions. Yes, we will be showing off our Harleys also along with our prized possessions. So, if ya got em, wear em. Rumor has it that the customary brats and beverages will be served at the end of the ride, “after we peel ourselves off our trusty steeds”.

February 2005

Feb 5 - Sat - Road Captain's Choice
10:00 AM - Cycle Barn.  So far, this is a RC choice led by none other than Mr. Iron-Butte himself, Yup, you guessed it, Our own Jeff is cooking up a ride that will surely get your oil warm. Kurt has decided to put an extra pillow on his iron horse and sweep away anything left behind or dislodged on a ride that might be anyone’s guess and cover anywhere from 200 to 600 miles. Ya don’t wanna miss this one.

Feb 20 - Sun - More-Than-Likely Chilly Ride Stiff Nipple Ride
10:00 AM - Cycle Barn.  Awrighty then. Cruise and Hoghead have decided that since the Blue-balls ride was a bust, we are gonna give it another try. Speaking of busts, they have aptly named this ride the stiff nipple ride because more than likely, it is going to be a bit cool yet and things can happen. It will be local ride covering a few towns and back roads and I am sure we can find a latte stand that should have not only latte’s but good ol’ hot chocolate. When we find a good place to plunk down and have lunch, we will just go on in and invade the place with our usual style and presence. Heck, some of the ride might even be made up as the two hooligans lead you through the flora and fauna of the Great Northwest backroads. See ya then.

Feb 24 - Thu - Ladies of Harley Meeting
7:00 PM - Elmer’s restaurant, 3411 184th St SW, Lynnwood (located northwest of Alderwood Mall, by Mervyn's, Alderwood 7 Theatres).

A note from RC Patt:  Just a reminder: April 30th, the 5th Saturday of the month, is the Marionwood Ride with Eastside HOG. Eastside HOG supported our Bunny Run this year, with a great showing of their members; we should likewise support them with one of their nationally recognized rides that they have invited us to. It's an extra early ride, needing to leave the Barn by 8 am, YES! ...it is early, but that is so we can enjoy three hours of riding with Eastside before lunch. After lunch, it's a half-mile ride to Marionwood Senior Center to help the poor ol' folk escape the rigors of mortice for a little while you buff your bike and your pride of being there. It WILL make you feel good, I promise. You will be able, and are encouraged, to thrill the seniors and give rides around the parking lot, if you choose. Experienced two-up riders are particularly encouraged, but please come even if you will just support this ride, even if you don't want to give rides...your presence is appreciated by the seniors who just want to look but not ride. If you can not make the early morning ride, but can join us for lunch (11:30) or after lunch (by 12: 45) at La Casita, 3066 Issaquah-Pine Rd (Zip-98075) for the ride to Marionwood, contact Patt for directions (See one of my posts for my e-address) -- Patt

July 2005

Jul 2 - Sat - Sequimish Ride
9:00AM - Cycle Barn.   You asked for it, now here it is.
Yukon has raised his hand to lead this ride and Hog Head has agreed to sweep up what’s left over.  I still don't believe this one, but who knew.  We are going out to the Strait to do some riding and Shopping?  Sequim and Pt. Angeles are the main towns, with maybe some stops in between.  Yukon what were you thinking?  Well, at least we can do some window shopping.  Would someone please watch out for Hog Head?  He was heard saying something about taking his scoot through the wilderness park and something about a Water Buffalo that took his sandwich the last time he was there.

Jul 2 - Sat - Viet Nam Moving Memorial Wall Celebration
Come participate in a commemoration ride to the Wall- the traveling Vietnam Veteran's Memorial Wall.   Join several chapter members and our own Darcy on this patriotic ride.   Darcy writes:

"I've been asked to speak at the Viet Nam moving memorial wall July 2, at 5:00PM at Sedro'Woolley high school.
I'm writing the speech based on the support I got when I was in Nam and when I was in Iraq.  I want to show to all, how our morale was effected in booth wars.  I know this July 4 weekend, everybody has plans of one sort or another, but if I could get as many of you guys there that supported me in Iraq, I could definitely drive home the message that a soldier lives and dies for his countrymen.  Skagit Harley, (in Mt'Vernon), will be hosting a big barbeque that Saturday from 12 to 3PM, and then everybody will ride out to Sedro'Woolley and should get there at 4.  I go on sometime at 5pm, (hopefully the last speaker), and I'd like to show the world who I had in my corner, when I went overseas.   Since I never went to the Viet Nam Memorial wall in Washington, this will be especially honorable for me, because I always thought America tried to bury the memory of our fallen, in that stupid war. I tried also, but my nightmares keep the memory alive like it was yesterday.  You people mean a lot to me and if you can, please show up at Skagit Harley Saturday for some good eats. It's free, so I'm there!!). We'll all roll out in a procession, bikes and cars.  The town will open it's street party at 6PM. We'll be taking a room, because I'm gonna want to party hardy.   The director at Sedro'Woolley is also going to designate the next day,  (Sunday), as Iraqi Veterans Day and want me to speak to those soldiers, former and present. I don't have any idea what I'm going to say.  I'd like to take all of you around the country and show off to everybody the kind of support I had and how it effected the way I performed my duties over there.  See you all there Saturday the 2nd, hopefully.
Forever, Darcy"

Are you into classic motorcycles?  If so, please join RC Jeff as we head to the Great White North of Vancouver, B.C. to visit the Trev Deeley Motorcycle Museum . While we will be putting on some miles, this is more of a visit to the museum than anything else. We will do our best to get up I-5 to Vancouver as quickly as possible to maximize our time spent at the museum itself. My thanks go out to Gary Benham for his work in setting up this ride.  The museum is normally closed on weekends, but Gary convinced them that it would be worth their while to open specially for us.  In other words, we will have the whole museum to ourselves!  What could be better than that?

Aug 8-14 - 65th Anniversary Sturgis Rally
Sturgis, SD.  http://www.sturgis.com/

Aug 3-14 - GNWHOG Posse Ride to Sturgis
This is a special Posse ride to the Sturgis Rally in South Dakota. It wont be a big group but it will be a fun group that will build bonds and memories. There will be stories to tell and bugs to eat, hail to endure and a sore butt to make every pothole a delicate glimpse into what makes the Sturgis Rally what it is.

Plans are have taken shape and will be subject to change up until the time we hit the highway. Right now we will leave Wednesday morning on August 3rd and take 3 days to get to Sturgis. We will travel the northern leg of the route going through Glacier park on the way to Sturgis. That is the Chapter part of the rally. On Friday morning the  12th of  August we will take the Southern route through Cody Wyoming, Yellowstone Park and Grand Teton Park. Those folks returning together will be friends riding the American adventure on the way home, not everyone will be traveling together on the way back.

Going and coming we intend to motel it at the most appropriate place for the night. We may share rooms or we may not so be prepared. Each days ride will be the chapter ride and when we stop for the night we will be on our own till the next ride starts again the following morning. As far as beverages, I expect everyone to have a clear head and be ready to go every morning. The same is expected on the return trip. The return trip is not part of any chapter ride or event. Chapter rides are always concluded when the destination is achieved. While at Sturgis we can use cell phones to coordinate rides to what ever location we wish. We are open and the week at Sturgis is not part of the ride. Just part of out independent fun. Camaraderie is welcomed but not required.

Emergency services (flat tires ect) will be handled on a case by case basis. I expect everyone on the trip to carry their own towing or emergency services policy and be prepared to use it if needed. If you bike has a major breakdown you may have it towed to the nearest/best repair facility and you may need to catch back up with the group or meet a day or two later in Sturgis.

If you plan on joining this trip also plan on joining in on several road trips beforehand just to make sure you are up to it. Patt and I have a Cascade loop scheduled and it will be a 400 miler and is a perfect get to know each other ride. Every rider on this trip will have to contact me and ride with me sometime before the Sturgis Posse Run. Drive up last minute folks will not be accepter on this ride. One more thing, if for some reason, weather, medical, logistical or any other reason the ride may be cancelled. Since this is a big trip and not just a afternoon lunch ride I want to be upfront about all that can possibly happen since most of us will be taking special vacation time that may be hard to reschedule or change.

Questions? Contact Lance R.C. for the trip.   Lanc.sturgis@silvercrow.com

November 2005

Nov 5 - Sat - Search for Chocolate Ride
10:00 AM  HD of Seattle.  RCIT Dee is taking the chapter on a hut for Chocolate with Joyce and Linda.  The destination is Poulsbo.  This is a ferry ride (bring $) and a short land ride.  If the weather holds there may be an “after” ride to Silverdale Harley.  We’ll eat dessert first and lunch afterwards.  Remember the ride starts at 10:00 from Harley Davidson of Seattle .  NOT 9:00.

Nov 5 - Sat - Auburn Veteran's Day Parade
Calling all Veterans, and supporters of Veterans who are not going on the "In Search of Chocolate" Chapter ride, Saturday, November 5th. There is a group of riders leaving H-D of Seattle (formerly, Cycle Barn) at 9 AM to the Auburn Veterans Day Celebration Parade, to not only honor our Vets, but to escort them in the parade. The Auburn Veterans Day Celebration is not only nationally recognized as the biggest and best observance west of the Mississippi, but our own nationally recognized HOG member, Darcy, who served in the Special Forces in Viet Nam and recently walked the streets of downtown Bagdahd to fight for our freedom, will be leading us in the parade with both his Special Forces Alumni and the boys he fought with and helped keep alive in Iraq. Even if you don't make the parade, come meet them at a pre-parade get-together at Jimmy Jack's, about 1/2 mile north of Mukelteo Speedway, on Hwy. 99 (west side of street), on Friday night (11/4). Band starts to play at 9pm.  This is not a Chapter Ride, and will probably ride down I-5 at freeway speeds. Also note that it leaves at 9:00 AM, one hour before the Chapter Ride to Poulsbo, in search of chocolate, which leaves H-D of Seattle at 10:00 AM.

Nov 7 - Mon - Board Meeting
7:00 PM - Elmer’s restaurant, 3411 184th St SW, Lynnwood (located northwest of Alderwood Mall, by Mervyn's, Alderwood 7 Theatres).  If chapter member has an interest to attend a board meeting for observation purposes only, please inform any chapter officer prior to doing so.   If you have an issue that you would like to address the board, please contact any of the primary officers (director, asst.director, secretary, treasurer) prior to the meeting so that an agenda item can be added.

Nov 20 - Sun - Member Options Ride - Two rides to choose from:
10:00 AM  HD of Seattle.

Ride option 1:  Cruise and Hoghead are the RC's on this one, along with Tim  as the designated RCIT  (does Tim know what he's getting into?).   Direction of travel:  unknown.    Destination:  to be determined.   Level of fun and excitement:  are you kidding???  it's the Cruise and Hoghead ride show, always lotsa fun!
Ride option 2: Turkey Ride:  Linda will be leading this one as RC along with Kurt as Sweep, and also Duck & Russ as the designated RCIT’s.  Linda has this to say:  "This will be a rain or shine ride just to see who is the biggest “turkey” to ride at this time of the year!  If it’s really nasty, the ride maybe shortened since I’m only part Turkey!
Depending on the weather, it could be a 4 hr or 6 hr ride but either way, we’ll go have lunch somewhere."

Dec 3 - Sat - Captain's Choice ride
10:00 AM  HD of Seattle - Join Jeff on on what is sure to be an unusually balmy 3rd of December for some truly aimless wandering of our local backroads. Of course knowing Jeff, "local" can mean anything in the western United States... Given the shorter daylight hours, and our winter 10:00 start time, however, we will try to keep this one a little shorter. Somewhere this side of 300 miles... There will be no plan, no destination; every rest stop will find us lighting out in a different direction. Suggestions will be welcome; if we find ouselves near somewhere you have always wanted to go, something you have always wanted to see, don't be shy - speak up and thou shalt be heard! Maybe not heeded, but certainly heard. Let's see just how lost we can get. Prizes, glory, and the satisfaction of accomplishment for anyone that can make it home without calling Search and Rescue. As always, Pirates' Code applies - fall behind, and you're left behind. "Actually, they're more like guidlines..."
