Chapter Meeting
March 8, 2007
The meeting was
called to order at 19:02 by Director Mike Meade
Mike lost his voice and it was hard to hear, I apologize for
the short notes.
New members were introduced.
Dave Preston took the floor.
Busy weekend is planned at Harley-Davidson of Seattle.
Friday is a Dirt
Bike Rally in Thurston
County. There is a law before the State that will
limit any off road bike that can be heard from inside a house. This could mean events like the All Harley
Drag Racing at S.I.R. could be canceled.
Sam Adams from
the Everett Hawks contacted Dave
Preston and asked if he had heard of the Everett
Hawks. Dave did a little explaining to
Sam. For those that don’t know, in the
past two years (the two years the Hawks played at the Everett Event Center)
it has been our GNW-HOG group that provides 10 – 20 Harleys for part of their
opening ceremonies. We would ride our
bikes onto the field forming a large ‘V’ with the headlights pointing
inward. The EEC lights would be dimmed
and the Hawks would be introduced as they ran onto the field, highlighted by
our head lights. Great fun and we were
rewarded with free tickets to the
events.
Saturday
Harley-Davidson of Seattle is having a Black and
Orange
show. Come see the new bikes for this
year.
Sunday at
Harley-Davidson of Seattle will be the Bikini contest to pick this year’s contestant.
Sunday at the other
Harley-Davidson of Seattle store in Lynnwood is the Rides of
March, where you could win T-Shirts, Towels, Oil Change for you Harley, Harley
rental, etc. Both events are happening at the same time,
your pick.
Dave was
interviewed by the Journal; you can read the article the weekly Journal, the
one that comes free in your mailbox every week.
March 10 – 17 is
USED BIKE SALE WEEK at Harley-Davidson of Seattle. New bikes are becoming harder to get due to the strike at Harley-Davidson. The strike is over and production will soon
resume to normal.
August 14th
will be Harley-Davidson of Seattle
at the Everett Aquasox. Harley-Davidson of Seattle will provide a display of
Harley-Davidson’s. I didn’t hear if
there would be other bikes displayed or not.
But I heard something about
free tickets, I think. Better
check with Dave Preston about the tickets.
Brady brought up that he had received an e-mail from the
Mount Baker HOG chapter. They want to
put together a multi chapter picnic
the end of July. More information to
follow.
TW5 next meeting
is Friday 3/9/07. All designs for the
T-shirt must be in by Friday, winning design to be chosen at the meeting.
Membership – 75 new members + 14 to be processed for a total
of 784 members.
Webmaster – Must check the calendar to insure all dates and
days match.
Editor – Printer will print and mail HOG CALL next
week. The mailing went form over 800 to
fewer than 20. We can save trees if we
try.
LOH – Pathways ride is the next ride after the Bunny
Run. It was decided the Bunny Ride will
arrive at Housing Hope at 11:00 which means we will be leaving Harley-Davidson
of Seattle
around 10. Staging will start when you
arrive at HD0fS. After run lunch will be
at Ellensick, which is opening on Sunday just for GNW-HOG. So we will have the run of the pub. If you don’t drink beer they brew their own
root-beer. To clear up any miss
understanding, the chapter will not be picking up any portion of your lunch
tab.
Cathleen has taken the task to create a quilt from the batch
of T-shirts a past members surviving wife dropped off at the dealership. She would like to ask help from any quilters
out there to help assemble it. Tickets will be sold at $5.00 each for a fund raiser
with proceeds going to gnw-hog. The
drawing will be at this years Christmas party.
The question was ask if you need to be present to win and the answer was
NO. You don’t have to be present at the
Christmas party to win.
Safety and Head
Road Captain – Check out the Safety
Page on the web site, there is a lot of tips and suggestions there.
Gerbing Ride is
Saturday March 17th leaving Harley-Davidson of Seattle promptly at 08:15 to catch the 9am
ferry.
Bunny Ride April
1st Sunday. Largest ride put
on by gnw-hog. When you enter the parking lot, between 9am and 10am you will be staged in a group to
help eliminate any confusion.
Prince &
Princes ride – Will be a practice session rather than a ride. The would be a good time to try your skills
with the cones.
Road Captains
introduced.
There is a rumor that
the price for the State Safety class
may be going up around July. National
HOG will reimburse you $50.00 if you send in the paper work within 30 days of
taking the class.
Historian – Looking for 2001 & 2002 HOG CALLS, if you
have the paper copy David would like a copy of them for the chapter.
50/50 was $50.00.
The meeting was
adjourned at 20:05 by Director Mike Meade
